Blessing of Herbs for the Feast of the Assumption in Andrian

According to an ancient tradition, it is said that when Mary’s tomb was opened, her body was no longer there, but only flowers and herbs were found. For this reason, medicinal herbs and flowers are blessed on her feast day.

The women of Andrian have revived this ancient tradition. They prepare small bouquets of herbs and flowers, which are blessed during Mass and then distributed to the faithful.

The Mass will be accompanied by music performed by the Andrian Parish Choir.
