A visitor asked me shortly before the castle closed.

“Out of joy!”

Was his answer, and you could almost feel how overwhelmed he was by Festenstein Castle and the wild, impressive landscape surrounding it.

After years of restoration and the completed safety work on the trail, Festenstein Castle is now open to visitors – on selected days during special openings.

Here you can experience history up close, admire the ancient architecture, and enjoy the unique nature of South Tyrol. A visit that will remain in your memory for a long time!

Special Openings 2026:

The dates for the special openings will be announced only after the reopening of Trail No. 15.

The castle can be reached on foot only: 1 h from Andriano (steep and difficult) currently only from Gaid (downhill, medium difficulty) 20 min.
